A&P what makes this pic so good?

    someone posted this pic in the main forum, and it caught my eye. What makes this pic so pro? is the lighting? was it shot with a medium size camera?

    It just looks different from your average point and shoot picture because of the shallow depth of field, and diffused, probably bounced lighting. If you're thinking 'medium format' camera, the answer is no, absolutely not.

    its pretty bad actually, blown out highlights on the chrome, barely readable text on the item, and lots of distractions.

    it's sharp because it's a higher end model.. either a very nice point and shoot or a DSLR. i'd have to look at the .exif properties to see the camera.. but im too lazy

    What kind of swetting do you need to get the background slightly out of focus like that?

    I have a Kodak Z740

    you mean sweating?

    I collect nutsack perspiration from dead homeless men and I find that gives me the best "background slightly out of focus" effect. Be careful though if you use nutsack sweat from a black man you might lose a couple stops and have to bump up your iso or use a tripod.

    its harder to do with a p&s, but have a smaller aperature number and get close to the subject, you can also use flash if you're close to then darken the background too
