Should be getting the d70 body for Christmas, but dont know which lens to get. $ is an issue because im a poor college student, so I am really just looking for best all around lens that can do the most for the money :hs:

it really depends on what you're planning on shooting (focal wise) but a good all around lens would be something like a 18-200mm, 28-200mm, 18-135mm or something like that that covers a wide focal area

I like my 50mm f/1.8 it is dirt cheap and pretty much stays on my camera. It is usable indoors without a flash and is from what I understand one of the sharpest lenses around f/4-5

EDIT: Pick up the kit lens used from a camera store and then get the 50mm.... :hs:

the kit lens is a great lens IMO. do you have a choice in getting the kit lens or are you only getting the body?

it all depends on the money. I figured buying just the body would be cheaper :dunno:

kit lens is a great lens, and the 19-200 option seems to fit you better, since you probaby wont tbe buying more lenses in some time

I plan on either minoring in photography or majoring in it in another year when I transfer, so I will be getting more lenses, just not this second :hs:
