So I installed ZoneAlarm Pro a few days ago and I have 15,324 attempts and 76 spywares treated on my computer. I'm pretty sure my computers been breached both before and after the installation of my "firewall." I'd like to know what OTers use to protect their PCs. Thanks.

don't fucking pirate shit, don't go to questionable websites, filter your email. With these in place you should be able to connect to the internet with nothing more than a NAT router and SP2.

That's what I'm saying. I haven't had an instance of a virus in over 3 years so when I reloaded 4 weeks ago I just left A/V out of the whole thing.

I've never had a virus successfully infect my computer. I use Symantec Antivirus Corp. Edition (which scans for spyware as well as viruses), Google Popup Blocker (the one built into Internet Explorer is too clunky for my taste) and common sense.

CPU magazine rated six of the top internet security suites.

    Aluria Software security center 4.0

    Bullguard internet security 6.0

    McAfee internet security suite 2006

    Symantec Norton internet security 2006

Trend Micro PC-cillin internet security 2006

    ZoneAlarm security suite 2006

They made 20 seperate comparisons of each suite.
Only Norton, Trend Micro and ZoneAlarm scored the top score of 4.

    Of the 20 comparisons:

Norton had 19 of the features tested

    ZoneAlarm had 14

    Trend Micro had 12

    McAfee had 11

    Aluria had 8

BullGuard came in last with only 7

i use windows and neither do i.
if you're not a fucking idiot you wont get a virus or adware. i stopped using virus and adware protection because i find those programs equally as intrusive as any spyware or virus i've ever seen.

Well, I've never once had a virus. I use Ad-Aware to remove spyware once every few months, but that's about it.

It's certainly possible that you haven't had a virus,

but it's also possible that you just never observed the effects of one.

Without scanning you can never be 100% sure.

I've used FF since it was released. Opera is similar, but there are several FF extensions I now require to better my experience that Opera doesn't have.

I can't think of a single thing that FF has that opera doesn't that I find useful. And Opera has them all built-in, runs faster, is more feature-rich, better-integrated, more stable, and doesn't have a memory leak.

You need to ADD downthemall. Opera has it built-in! And with these features, Opera had em first!

All of the suites rated are fucking shit compared to GOOD AV solutions, such as AVG.
