it's actually a Navy jet......I think it's called an E8 or something I'm sure that's wrong, but like it fits like 4 or six people in it.

It's an EA-6B. Marine Corps and Navy has them. There are 2 and 4 seater variants. Used for counter-electronics. In other words, that shit will fry anything electronic in it's path. Pretty high-tech classified stuff there. They are loud as fuck, louder than F/A-18's, F-16's, AV-8B etc...

A-6 Intruder (Attack) was a predecessor to the EA-6B Prowler (Eletronic Warfare).

A-6 was eventually replaced by the F-14 Tomcat, which then was replaced by the F/A-18 Hornet.
EA-6B is slated to be replaced by the EA-18G Growler. Maybe one day we'll see a JSF EA-35 version.

when I saw the front of the picture, the Intruder came to mind (Flight of the Intruder anyone?). Then I saw the rest of it. :) Pretty spiffy planes, if I don't say so myself.

Perhaps a dumb question then, the thing sticking out by the cockpit is for electronics jamming? :dunno:

(we went to the same airshow :o )

We had a couple EA-18G's on board. Might still. We're doing Carrier Quals/Work ups right now.

    Worst... shit... ever....
