planning on getting some, not sure which kind though
use my ipod ones sometimes but most of the time its not that loud for me
Earplugs? Thought I accidentally click on the WMD forum.
Don't use em
Earplugs for what? You've already got a helmet on, right? If it's still too loud, get a quieter muffler.
The Hearo 32 decibel ones.
do you ride, retard?
I don't have a stock pipe, but even so I can just barely hear it on the freeway. Wind noise is what gets you.
Wind noise is the main reason I listen to music. My HJC is really bad about wind noise, but that is mostly because my windscreen is throwing the air right at the chin. Need to get a slightly taller windscreen.
I use the bright orange industrial safety earplugs. $20 for about 150 from memory. You need to wear earplugs. When I got my hearing tested, I had to list risk factors for hearing loss. e.g. Riding motorcycles. The audiologist said to me after the test: "You wear earplugs, don't you?"
The wind noise at speed will end up sending you deaf if you don't take precautions.
Deus, you're an idiot go kill yourself. You know nothing about riding, so go cry about how your RX8 gets terrible gas mileage.
You don't ride
NRR33's from Ebay...
bought 100 pairs for around $15 shipped... still have like 1/2 of them...
just did a search and it looks like i bought it from this guy: http://myworld.ebay.com/greeninil/
skull candy full metal jackets
They let sound in, but block sound too
I've tried every iteration of ear plug I could find, bar the ones requiring inner ear molds.
These by far, have been the best. Get the trial pack, which includes multiple sizes. It’s not fun to order the wrong size and have to re-order.
the best option for music while riding thats not as expensive as custome plugs is probably the "Westone Um1" with the foam comply tips. the Foam Comply tips are reviewed the best & highly regarded as being comfortable & best at noise isolation for any activity. Im on my 2nd set as when i lost my 1st pair i couldn't live without it.
should be able to find plenty of info , reviews on the westones & the comply tips.
I need to pick some up, anything rated 30+ db should be good. I used to work in the safety industry and somehow im too lazy to buy some i should know better.
anyone ride with someone else often and use plugs still? any trouble hearing each other, do you have to yell?
Now that my disposable plugs came in, I've gone for a couple of rides with them and it's a completely different feel. I'm glad to be protecting my hearing, but are they really necessary for rides around town (60 mph max)? I miss hearing my bike
Depending on the bike and helmet in use, in some instances even city speeds have breached the allowable level (50 & below). Keep in mind through recent research, the threshold for hearing damage was lowered recently. Even excessively noisy large rooms filled with talking people can be a problem for extended periods.
I'll use a box of disposable ones from Lowes or something otherwise I'll use a set of Sony earplugs like these.
I'll always wear plugs from now on in this case
