I started working from home a few months ago, and I realized that my chair blows for 10+ hours of use each day.

I'm currently using a leather chair that I got at Staples for $50 like 10 years ago.

my chair at home is a chair i bought at ikea about 5 years ago. it is starting to fall apart a bit though.

i've got a herman miller chair at work. it's ok i guess. there are other chairs i'd rather buy for home though.

In all seriousness, I have a 2 yr old or so chair made by staples' brand that is very similar looking to a herman miller chair. it was about $100 and is great.

Also in my room I have like a 10 yr old office chair. The chair is missing half of its bolts and creaks everytime I move, but I <3 it lol

I have an Aeron in my office at work, it's awesome in a professional setting.

For my office at home, I have a really nice leather chair that has a headrest and leans back. There are no mfg markings on it though so I have no idea what it is :/ lol got it at an office furniture store.

Aeron ftw. Had them at work and got so used to the comfort even for long sittings that I had to buy one for at home. $600 on eBay and worth every penny.

Now that I'm working from home (barely) I use it for 12-14 hours at a time with no problems.

I have both the HM Embody and Mirra. The embody is the newest model and top end from HM. The mirra is a step below the aeron.

I'd love to get an Aeron chair, but I can't bring myself to spend the $800 to get one with lumbar support on it. So I use the cheap ripoff my company gave me.

I found HM Aeron for $200 on Craigs List here in the Twin Cities. It's a nice looking chair...

hey how do you like the Embody? I could use a new chair.... does that spinal support concept work?
Like do you actually feel the articulated back has a tangible benefit, beyond just being neat/cool ?

I used to have a good edu a guy did on using a fully adjustable power seat from a car for his computer chair.
He just built up a basic wood platform that he mounted the chair to, and used a simple ac adaptor to power it.

You couldn't touch the adjustable level of that for under a grand in an office chair.

I'll admit I'm somewhat biased towards liking HM products as I work for them.

But I always like the mirra better than the aeron, just the way it moves with you.

When the Embody came out and I heard all about it before seeing it, I was stoked. When they came off the truck and we got to seem them, I was highly disappointed. Just looked bizarre.

But then I sat in one, and was sold. It has the most support of any task chair, both in the seat and the back. The smaller back area allows you to have your shoulders open up and really takes stress off your back and chest. It has far more cushioning than the aeron, but is still a breathable fabric. the fabric is user replaceable, so it you ruin it or want a different color, its no big deal

Its price tag is quite a bit, but if you have the cash to swing it, its worth every penny

Some chair I bought at Office Max a few years ago.

The padding on the bottom is almost non existant. I don't remember if it was always like that, or if it has just worn down over time. I'm pretty used to it, but whenever someone else sits down they're all :wtf: at first.

I read a bunch of reviews over on hardforum about a lumbar chair that alot of users praised. I ordered it without ever testing it. Worst $500 I've ever spent. :wtc:

You work for them?....OT hookup? :x:

seriously though, thanks for the write up. I think I've found my new chair...

the aerons are cool but I never really took to one. More to do with the minimalist cushioning, I guess.
Embody looks like just the thing I've been waiting for. support, built like a tank, and cool concept. Will have to pick one up ....

Found a local dealer...hmmm price didn't seem that bad. >1000, so...high, but acceptable.

Then I priced out options. Custom options, great.
    Hmmm, arms...extra. Casters...extra Fabric color...extra. Frame finish...extra. Polished aluminum base...extra...

Yeah....this is gonna cost about the same as a Macbook Pro....
