Besides the physical stuff...hair color, eye color, body type, etc., what is your ideal type of guy? What is it that you look for in a "partner"?

Maturity. I cannot stand immature people. That is probably my number 1 personality trait that matters in anyone I know.

Immature people and those who are just dumb. No real-world experience and no street smarts.:ugh:

I cant really explain it, our personality just has to click. I havent run into a guy in a long time that has been able to do that, but I think I might just be bitter from a previous relationship and that is clouding my emotions.

My ideal type of guy is mature, independent, stable who is ambitious, has goals in life, and is willing to share his interests with me.

Communication and honesty are definitely key, and the ideal type of guy would be comfortable and confident in opening his mouth and sharing what's on his mind and in his heart.

My ideal type of guy would be fun, intelligent, confident, honest, well-grounded, with a good sense of humor, who knows what he wants and takes care of himself both mentally and physically.

Someone who jokes constantly and can laugh at himself (and others)
Someone who is sarcastic (we live by the motto "Choose your words carefully, as anything you say may be thrown back in your face with utter sarcasm at a later date")
Someone who loves me even though I have at least four "blonde moments" per day.
Someone who takes care of me (does all the scheduling of activities, makes sure I'm at the right place when I need to be, and gives me a list of things to so that I don't forget)
Someone who, when he looks at me, smiles... even after 5.5 years.
Someone who calls me every morning on my work phone at 3:30AM (on his way into work) to wish me a good day (so that I'll get the message when I get into work).
Someone who respects me and supports my efforts
Someone with the same goals and dreams as me.
Someone who understands my faults, and looks beyond them and helps me be a better person.
Someone who is his own person in his own right, but still complements me. We are strong individually, but we are even stronger as a team (greater than the sum of our parts).

Did you just listen to that Alanis Morrissette song??? (21 Things I Want In A Lover?) That's pretty much her song, right thur.

I think "inter-dependence" is better than finding someone independent. It's important to have someone who has his own thoughts/dreams/life, but it's also important to have someone who will depend on you to complete him. No?

Inter-dependence (when both people rely on each other and are a team working toward the same goal) seems like a better option... just a thought.

Oh, and maturity is really over-rated. ;)

Nope. Never heard that song before. I like your idea of inter-dependence....very very well written and I totally agree!

As for maturity....considering the emotional immaturity I've dealt with in these last few months, I'd like a little more maturity in my next bf. ;)

    "21 Things I Want In A Lover"
    Alanis Morissette

Do you derive joy when someone else succeeds?
Do you not play dirty when engaged in competition?
Do you have a big intellectual capacity
But know that it alone does not equate wisdom?
Do you see everything as an illusion?
But enjoy it even though you are not of it?
Are you both masculine and feminine? politically aware?
And don't believe in capital punishment?

These are 21 things that I want in a lover
Not necessarily needs, but qualities that I prefer

Do you derive joy from diving in?
And seeing that loving someone can actually feel like freedom?
    Are you funny, a-la self-deprecating?
Like adventure? and have many formed opinions?

These are 21 things that I want in a lover
Not necessarily needs, but qualities that I prefer
I figure I can describe it since I have a choice in the matter
These are 21 things I choose to choose in a lover

I'm in no hurry. I could wait forever
I'm in no rush cuz I like being solo
There are no worries and certainly no pressure in the meantime
I'll live like there's no tomorrow

Are you uninhibited in bed? more than three times a week?
Up for being experimental? are you athletic?
Are you thriving in a job that helps your brother? are you not addicted?
    ...curious and communicative...

It is possible for a 16 year old to act like they should be preparing to die from old age. I met one once. It was a bit much. :ugh: I want to have fun, not beseach my sperm the living room couch that I will have one day.
