A&P What is wrong with my digital camera

    I don't think its just mine specifically (coolpix 5700), but why don't p&s digitals go past f/8? i think i paid enough for this thing (before i knew what was up..feel stupid now)..anyone have any good reasons and maybe a way to compensate for it?

    look into the lens. Its starts out with a fairly decent size piece of glass up front. But by the time it gets to the sensor its the size of a pin hole. It would cost a fortune to go smaller than that, and oyu'd run into major distortion problems. Are you more worried about rying to get more DOF or just trying to get lower shutter speeds during the day?

    mainly lower shutter speeds...so i can get good motion

    might have to look into a neutral density filter kit then

    intersting...maybe ill just get a digital rebel when the price drops
