thread starter never said "in a day", just 30lbs and didn't specify the time period, which would help with forming an opinion

I probably burn 2k in one day on average not even trying to

Drumming for an hour+ rock climbing for 2-3+ walking for 6 hours at my liquor store. As if gaining weight was hard enough

Depends on the amount of activity you can substain through out the day. You move, calories are burned.

of course they can drop that water weight like that. they do nothing but exercise and eat what they tell them too.

if we didnt have to work, pay bills, do normal day-to-day stuff and could fuck off in the gym all day we would all look a lot different.

Okay, but is it safer than going on a healthy 500 def. diet and a solid workout plan with long term goals?

You could burn a lot in a day, the problem is having the time to burn it, most people can't do cardio / running / swimming for 10 hours a day on any sort of regular basis (if they can do it at all). Talking fat loss / day and not just kcal, long distance swimming is a good example, because they'll have a higher b% then long distance runners and other endurance athletes.

From the Discovery Channel's Pushing the Limits: Strength when it is talking about the guy swimming the English Channel it says that he is burning ~3000 cals per hour.

He purposely gained ~16lbs of fat before the swim and after the 14hr swim across the 21mi channel and lost over 14lbs of it during the swim.

So he burned at least 50,000 in that 14hr. If someone was to do something crazy like a 24hr swim they could nearly hit 30lb in a day, though I doubt it'd be healthy.

I will look for that. Im also going to to look into the adverse effects of calorie def. diet. Also wondering if i could add 1 day a week of the extreme diet and burn.

Pretty much all low grade endurance exercise is fueled exclusively from your fat reserves. The better aerobic shape you get in, the better you get at burning fat for energy. Out of shape people tend to burn their glyogen stores, get hypoglycemic and feel like shit or pass out or something.
