I have about a 1200-1300 dollar budget for my first digital SLR camera. I'm using this mostly for action shots of extreme and conventioanl sports. My media is newsprint and the internet... What do you recomend for me?

I was thinking along the lines of a Nikon D50, Digital Rebel, or maybe the EOS 20D if I wait forever... Thoughts?

Buy the original D70 kit for less than $1,000 or a used Canon 20D ..

better yet, get a used Nikon D1H, extra batteries and a good wide angle lens

well i can attest for the 20D, i have one and i f-in love it, great a high iso levels, and you want it for sports, which makes the 20d better than the d70 and 350d, because of its burst rate of 5 frames/second whereas the others are 3fps...nice little feature...i got my 20d for about 1370 with kit USM kit lens, can be 1300 or so if you get the non USM kit lens, but then you will probably want soem telephoto for sports, yes, you definitely will mate.

Alright, where can I get these cameras online? Is there a digital camera "super store" if you will?

Hmm, I'm thinking based on my budget that if I want a nice lens, I'm gonna have to go with the Canon 350D or Nikon D50.

What kind of lens should I get? Sorry if I'm a hassle.

oh yeah if you are going the nikon route, id honestly take a used d70 over a brand new d50, I just don't see the price difference that much to be worth the things you lose.

let's see, as far as sites go, I use only www.bhphotovideo.com because there are a LOT of shady sites out there that I wouldn't trust.

don't get the d50, i sell it at best buy and i dont like it at alllll, the 350d is a MUCH better camera for rizzle.

I got almost all of my stuff from www.butterflyphoto.com. They have alot of specials and package deals, and if you call you can haggle them into making you a package deal like what I got. I saved about $400 by purchasing from them, versus going to a walk-in store.

to be honest, I spent less than what buydig has advertised for the XT with Kit Lens and that included 2 day shipping from DBuys...

take that for what its worth though :hs:

they seem to be fairly close to one another as far as prices
