    Without losing muscle or fat. I have no room to lose anything but I need to build my cardio for the fire academy. Running daily? I also have a mtb should I ride instead of run? alternate?

    Just eat more to avoid losing fat and muscle, although it's inevitable if you are running every day, which is what you will need to do.

    fat = :nono:

    lean muscle mass is what you want. load up on good whole non-refined carbs, and proteins, and good fats (non-saturated)

    If I see it I eat it. I am fucking broke from eating food all the time. I cannot afford to lose one bit of mass.

    Your cardio needs to be superior for the academy. Don't worry about losing mass, because you're going to lose it anyway once you get going in the academy. You're going to be running up and down the tower with full PPE on, going on 3 or 4 mile jogs, and pulling hose everyday. Concentrate on building your endurance and stamina. When you have a 30-minute SCBA, you actually want it to last 30 minutes. Not 15, because you were sucking down all the air from exhaustion.

    :naughty: I can't wait for the academy. My dept. trains pretty hard but I am ready for the abuse. Just working on my running bcs I know we will do alot of it. I mountain bike but for some reason running kills me.

    I'd forget about the mountain biking. You need to be running. You should be running 6-7 miles, so when you get to the academy, those 3-4 mile jogs will be nothing.

    I've always had bad knees, so running used to kill me too, but I started taking glucosamine (for my joints) and got a good pair of running shoes, and just forced myself.

    I started at 2 miles, then 2 weeks later, 3 miles, then just over time, built it up to 7 miles.

    7 miles :eek3: Fucking A. I know I have to do the 1.5 mile run every morning which won't be that big a issue. Your an animal.
