Well actually it's probably the 9800 Pro Ultimate 256MB or the GeForce 5900 Ultra 256MB take your pick.

Well I think its a toss-up mostly, with Nvidia having a slight overall performance lead at the moment with the 5900U. The thing that seperates the two for me is driver quality. Nvidia is king there, no question. There is nothing I hate more than spending a lot of money on a piece of hardware which has a lot of potential, only to find out that the drivers are crap.

The only thing the 5900 beat the 9800 in was a game specifically designed for the 5900 (doom III). The game isn't even out yet either. Just about every other "REAL WORLD" test the 9800 won.

    taken directly from OCaddiction.com

So the 5900 ultra takes 3 and the 9800pro takes 7.

I'de like the add that the only time the 5900 ultra beat it on UT2k3 was when they bumped it up to 1600x resolution, and the last test both cards were OC'd. 9800pro actually beat it w/ the typical 1240xwhatever setting :) They didn't even put it up against the 256mb 9800 :(

if the original question was asked because you are looking to buy, my advice is to wait for the next gen of video cards before spending the big bucks. for the currently available games, a 9500pro works just fine and is like $150.
