I was poking around Phonescoop today and I noticed that almost every single new phone never had a rating above 3.7 out of 5. And most of it just seems like if its not perfect in every way shape and form then its crap. So I'm wondering what was the best cell phone you ever owned or currently own? For me it was my Motorola StarTAC.

toss up between my nokia 6230 and nokia 3650.

if i could combine the best of both phones into one, it would be perfect.

Love my Samsung VGA1000 (pretty sure it's Samsung), but every Nokia I've had has taken a beating better than my Samsung.

I've not had many phones... but of the ones I had the StarTac was the best, even compared to my camera, color screen, bluetooth phones, the StarTac was just perfect

Sony Ericsson S700...just got it yesterday in the mail. Bright / Large 262k screen / 1.3mp camera w/ the little LED light that acts as a flash / bluetooth, etc. It's a great phone and feels the most solid and performs the best. :)

Simple, plain, and did it's job. Loved the durable metal case, hated the not so durable antenna.

Don't expect this phone to be released till late November/December. I have heard from sources that it won't be released until Jan of 2005. You're in Austin, just switch to T-Mobile and get yourself an S700i. :) That reminds me, I have to make my monthly pilgrimage down there to see my friends. :wiggle:

i'm actually on a two-week trial with t-mobile, but i also bought a T637 to see if a new phone would take care of the reception problems i'd been having recently with my T616 and it seems to have done the trick. i like the 850 MHz reception with AT&T (my current provider) and the fact that they have plenty of spectrum for their EDGE data services. from what i've heard, if/when t-mobile launches EDGE service, it won't likely be up to par with AT&T's EDGE data speed since t-mobile doesn't have as much spectrum available. :dunno:

i'd rather wait for the 710a so i can stay with AT&T now that i've determined that it was just a phone crapping out and not an actual signal issue in my area.

the T616 was apparently just dying, as the T637 works great, and it's basically just a refreshed version of the T616 from what i've read.

by the way, in the event that i should get a 710a, i fully expect the 710a to be my new "best cell phone i've ever had". :)

So far my best is my current 6230. Working for Cingular I've tried everything on our wall. Nokias are by far the best right now as far as software and usability, battery life, and features go.

Second best was my old nokia 8260
