I have a date on Saturday night with a woman i met, she is 27 and i am 28 yrs old. I haven't dated much in the past, but i don't know what to wear. I wanted to wear a nicer pair of jeans, a button down shirt and nice shoes, but i don't know if this is going to be under dressed or not? WE are going to a lounge type of bar/mansion that was converted into a bar/event holding type of deal.

How do people normally dress at this place? That's really the deciding factor...

If you're not sure, I guess your idea is good if you wear some nice shoes, nice watch and comb your hair sonny. Throw on a blazer too if you have one. Stand up straight, shoulders back and smile.

that sounds good as long as the jeans aren't ripped up. Also, remember that over dressing is better than under dressing because depending on the time you can always play off the fact that you came from or are going to a fancier place.

Straight clean jeans, square toed shoes and a nice shirt, you'll be fine

And make sure you're wearing the appropriate socks...

for your shirt, make sure its not too big too. you never tuck in a dress shirt into jeans unless you are someplace where cowboy hats or "young republican" pins are worn. You want to make sure its a shorter, more fitted shirt. They are not "the best" by any means, but go to express and try on a "fitted" (not "modern fit" or "classic fit") shirt to get an idea of what a dress shirt should fit like for night wear. Always top two buttons unbuttoned.

wear something else... a watch, a bracelet, whatever.

a blazer is tougher then the guy made it sound. A jacket over a graphic tee is ok, but a jacket with a dress shirt is a bit too dressy for a lot of places, and if you are not comfortable, its gonna show.

I almost exclusively wear jeans with some wear. wear whatever jeans you like best as long as they are not ratty or stained. Obviously if you can pull off more stylish, thats great. I wear stuff like this. (cant find a pic of my favorite jeans... which i need to replace but cant find anywhere... :wtc: )

nice dress shirt, 2 sizes too small, sleeves rolled up to elbows (the sleeves are never long enough for me anyway, so i might as well looked jacked)

tee shirt (not under shirt. like a real tee shirt that's fitted)
    button down left unbuttoned
    blazer
    Not shitty jeans
Nice shoes, preferably square toed, not sneakers
    done

*edit. If you layer than you're potentially ready for any situation. Fancy? Button up and leave the jacket on. Casual but put together? leave the shirt unbuttoned and the jacket on. Going to your friend's house for a few brews after? Ditch the button down and jacket cause you already have your favorite tee shirt on. :dunno: Allll good.

style doesnt have a "point" it has a look. The point is that there is no point and I just like the way it looks. People who only wear things that have a point are the opposite of stylish.

whats the "point" of wearing [IMG] instead of this [IMG]

casio is more functional and less expensive than the tag... might as well wear that eh?

I think there's a BIG difference between a watch and a large piece of black leather wrapped around your wrist. But to each his own... didn't mean to offend

Not offended in the least. The fact that not everyone would wear it, likes it, etc is exactly why I like it so much. the best stuff is the stuff that fits your personal style but not everyone's.

I don't see any difference. If I want a classier look I wear a watch, if a want a more stylish edgy look I wear a cuff... of which i probably have like 6

Confidence is a big part of fashion, IMO. You can pull off just about anything if you have the confidence to wear it.
