I like this lens.
Af-s 17-55 F2.8
nikon doesn't really make a lens in the same price category. sure the 17-55 f/2.8 and the 17-35 f/2.8 are both in the same focal length category, but in the price range....both lenses are double that of the 17-40
so to answer your question...the closest thing nikon makes is the 18-55 f/3.5-4.5...price wise
what about 3rd party lens manufacturers?
I was looking for something more solid.
the 17-55 isn't worth it though.
You should get a 17-55. It's great, you will rarely ever take it off your camera.
You are retarded, yes it is. Tack sharp, and you can club people over the head with it without repercussions. And still cheaper than the 17-35.
i will pick up the 17-55 one of these days. i am getting by very nicely with the tammy, but the 17-55 is amazing.
it is expensive but i really think that for a lens as versatile as the 17-55 it is probably worth it.
tokina is coming out wtih a 16-50 f/2.8. i would really really look at that. my 12-24 is fucking amazing, i have alot of respect for tokina because of it
i've read reviews on it and it's not looking too good. I was hoping this was the one too. We'll see.
the 17-55 is amazing. I have had mine for a few weeks now. I impulsed bought it at wolf camera...had some buyers remorse, but after taking a few pictures with it, I feel deeply in love
damn it's so expensive.
And it's only a DX format lens.
17-55 is the nicest lens I've ever tried. And I've tried pretty much everything decent under 400mm that canon and nikon offer.
how is it nicer in comparison to L glass?
I'm a Nikon shooter, so I'm biased a bit, but it just seemed perfectly balanced to me. It honestly seems like you could drop it off a balcony ten feet and as long as it didnt land ON the glass, it would be fine.
I like it more than the L glass I have tried. I was exaggerating with saying EVERYTHING under 400mm, but I've tried probably 15 L lenses
what body do you shoot with?
Only a D50
But I work at a pro camera store
when are you guys getting the tokina's in?
We don't stock Tokina in store.. not sure about ordering.
We mostly deal Canon, Nikon, Sigma
As I said, it's really a professional/high end demographic of customers, so they're not really interested in third party manufacturers
So could you answer this...
How is the build quality of the sb800 compared to the 580ex?
580ex or 580exII?
