What is needed on a PC to run OSX or leopard?

    I have an older Sony desktop that is currently not being used, i wanted to turn it in a OSX running machine. What is needed hardware wise to run OSX or the new Leopard?

    there are proprietary things built into mac's so that only mac's can run mac os x... it is very difficult to get around, although i'm sure it has been done..

    you have to be a developer to get it to work....

    not really, people have done the hard stuff for you, i would suggest that you have used unix commands before, although if you find the right guide it should be an issue.

    also the experience wont be great, ime the drivers used for osx on pc are never 100%.

    Can you buy the hardware that is in a mac pro and build it yourself? :dunno:

    you cant buy the mac bits (it would probably be cheaper to buy a mac), you can buy pc bits with similar chipsets, but it will involve a bit of research. check out the harware lists at osx86project.org.

    even if you get the same chipsets i believe it will still involve tweaking drivers for hardware ids etc. its a lot of playing around, if you're not up for that, try linux or buy a mac.
