I want to mess around with some web design since I get free space through my ISP. What is good software to start with?

    NOT frontpage

For freeware, I like HTML kit 1.0, but you may want something easier to start
    DreamweaverMX isn't bad, either

Dreamweaver is a good way to start, and it actually writes half-decent code. It's better to learn the actual HTML though, after you build a page in Dreamweaver look at the source and start to figure out how things work.
