    Similar. Except birddogs are on your knee and hands aren't they?

    yeah but what makes them different?

    I thought the reason for those being on your stomach was so you could lift arms/ legs at the same time.

    there are a couple different variations in yoga postures that are very similar. one is basically just the superman with your arms back. and one is where you hold your feet behind you while laying on your stomach and use the grip to lift everything but your belly off of the ground, it is super hard to breath in this one, but that is the point.

    The point of this thread is that those movements you mentioned are also potentially detrimental to your back.

    I've done them to strengthen my back when I had absolutely no back muscle. My masseuse told me that I had one of the weakest backs she'd ever worked on. :o

    The guy in the pic is doing too much ROM. It's more of a light stretch than an all out flex. I started doing these one leg at a time for 25-50, then added my arms and then held both arms and legs up for 30 seconds. I added deadlifts with 20lb dumbbells. Then I joined a gym and 6 months later was deadlifting 405lbs.

    No dude, I know no one here made it. I just mean in general. It's funny that someone put forth the effort to make that.
