What is a good product to polish and protect chrome?

How long does it take for waterspots to permanently damage the paint? I've been avoiding taking my car out in the rain since my new paint job (its only seen rain maybe 3 times in the last year) because I'm afraid of the water spots. I also hate seeing the Tahoe out in the rain since its black. Right now its covered in water spots and I don't want to wash it because there's a chance of rain every day for the next week but I don't want the paint ruined either since this is the nicest car my mother has had in a very long time. Maybe I'm overreacting so please fill me in.

Rain waterspots don't cause a problem unless it is acid rain. Typically, if you are in an area with heavy industry, you have to worry about acid rain. What really messes up your paint is waterspots from sprinklers because the water is unfiltered and loaded with minerals that will build up on your paint and eventually etch it too.

Vanilla Moose is great on chrome.

i've always had awesome luck with rightlook.com's chrome and glass polish. does wonders for chrome as well as exhaust tips. i bought a bottle 3-4 years ago and still using it. works like a charm.

let me know if you want to see pics.

Thanks for clearing up the water spot problem. I guess after I get my AC fixed I won't worry about driving in the rain as much.

I forgot Vanilla Moose works on all the trim too.

Yeah, I'd love to see pics MP.

when i bought my m coupe, the previous owner had snow wheels and tires. since i was driving this year round, i picked 'em up for $400. bad news was they were chrome and disgusting.

this is what the wheels looked like after a wash.

you'll see the rear wheel (wider lip) has more pits in the chrome. still did a crazy job though in the clean up.

Big improvement on those wheels. Nice clown shoe too. :)
