Let's say tomorrow there's a headline on the news..."Cure for Homosexuality Found." Scientists have identified a gene or something that causes homosexuality, and can "fix" it with revolutionary new technology, resulting in the patient becoming completely straight...the process is not reversable.

    Would you take the "cure"?

Simply put... no. I am sure others feel the same way.

Shouldn't it be phrased "What would you do if a pill could make you straight?" :dunno:

Yes, because I have this knack for finding wimmenz that I would love to date. But then there's that whole vagina thing...

I think, "wow, you have a brain, you use it and you have ambition. Where is your gay guy equivalent?"

    And so it goes.

There's no way that I would take the pill. I am who I am. I do sometimes wish that I were heterosexual, but it's too late to change that. If I were to suddenly be straight... I would be an entirely different person. Destroying myself and becoming someone else is not something I'm particularly inclined to do.

I might. I'm confused beyond all, so having it all lifted from my shoulders would be a godsend....on the otherhand, I like who I am...

Hell, no. Anyone who thinks they can change your genetics and neurobiology with a single pill is a crackpot and a swindler. I'd hope they'd be thrown in jail, ASAP.

Nope. When first dealing with the issue of coming out, probably - now, nah, God created me this way and it is up to God to set me straight (pun intended).

ya, but if you took the pill, you could still enjoy being broken nightly, just by women, and it's not like you'd miss being broken by men because you'd no longer desire that. so you'd still get the same pleasure in your life, only you wouldn't have to deal with the hassles of society hating you.

hold up, in my hypothetical i said they discover that gayness was discovered in a gene and could be "corrected." What do you mean it's up to god to set you straight? Why don't you think it's up to god to set people with other curable abnormalities straight?

I don't believe being gay is abnormal, it is part of humanity and normalcy.

who said society hating us? The only people who seem to hate us are the ones that can't get passed the idea that two guys can love each-other or that two women cannot feel the same way about each other as married couples do.

The thread topic is just sublimating the age old question of whether being gay is a choice or not (since you have free will in deciding to "take the red pill") - and a few guys fell for the trap inadvertently answering that they think being gay is indeed a choice.

Am I the only one that has caught this thus far?

Nope. I'd never do anything to lose the man I love.

But that brings up an interesting question. This pill of yours, SpicyMcVoodoo... would it just change who we wanted to have sex with? Or would it change who we love?

I just can't picture myself falling in romantic love with a woman. It simply doesn't compute. If this pill would make me want to have sex with women, but still be unable to fall in love with them, that would be hell.

For the 8 years or so that I was struggling with my sexuality before I came out of the closet: Yes
For the first year after I came out of the closet: I'd consider it thoughtfully.
After that, and to this very day: Not even if I had a gun to my head and I was being forced to take it...

I'm proud of who I am. Not one ounce of shame. And my life has been wonderful...
