Im not looking into getting hardcore, or even joining a gym right now (I simply dont have the time or desire right now with work/work)

I weigh about 170, and Im about 5-10". Im not muscular at all, but not a fat ass either obviously. My body fat is probably pretty high, but I have no idea what it is to be honest.

Question is, what can I do at home to get some muscles going. id like to have decent arms/chest/stomach . Like I said, I know without going hardcore diet/gym Im not gonna be a fucking model or anything, but Id like to have a decent looking arm/chest.

Can anyone suggest some weights/barbells/whatever that I could buy , small shit to fit in a house of course. Not a full bench as I dont really have space for that either. Any links to what a good maybe 30-60 min a day workout regime would be? I really have no clue what to even do as far as lifting weights.

Diet wise, I know I wont be able to get too crazy and technical on it. Should I be around 2000 calories a day? What about Protein/Carb/Fat?

If anyone could just point me to a link or to the right direction of what type of weights I could go buy and some different ways to work out with them thatd kick ass :x:

If you listen to some people here, the only way to do it is to lift weights.

But if you have limited resources, you could do cardio outside (run, bike, etc.) and do push-ups, situps, whatever for your strength-building exercise. If you don't have room for a bench, then it's hard to imagine you having much room at all. But all it takes is a few square feet to do those. Your attitude suggests you aren't too serious about this, so you shouldn't expect tremendous results.

As for diet, eliminate between-meal foods and don't eat anything after 8pm. Also, stay away from fast food but if you do have to eat fast food make sure it's something light (which usually isn't actually 'light', but it's better than heavy fast food).

Just by reading this post, you don't have the dedication to get even "decent" looking.

It is a lifestyle, not a hobby.

LOL - Timber ruined all the fun!

Dumbells are the best for home works outs (so many different exercises), and if you're limited on space, you might look into getting some powerblocks.

Why keep the secret then? Tell all why stopping eating at 8pm is not good for someone trying to cut some fat and get in better shape.

Your post reminded me of this infamous picture:

It's kind of hard to e-argue with someone who throws in the last word then locks the thread.

I won't disagree with that. However, cutting yourself off at a certain time prevents you from grazing on junk food until you go to sleep, which many less-disciplined people do. So once again, there is a psychological benefit, not necessarily a physiological one.

    @ the responses....

Yea I know alot of fitness type guys dont like the idea of me saying Im not full on, bu Im trying to be realistic here. I know I wont just drop everything and go balls out, but I know I can work into shit slowly....

Id like to ya know, go buy some barbells/etc, and see if I cant put in 30-60 mins a day on getting some muscle built and some fat lost. I just know Im not into the full out hardcore eating/gym routine - at least not now. My diet has been pretty much horrible for the last couple years (constant Coke, Fast food, snacks, etc), but recently I have started drinking alot more water, diet coke only, substuiting Taco Bell for Subway/Quiznos, etc.

And I noob posted and didnt look at all the stickys - my bad :o

BTW, thanks for the PM Timberwolf, Im reading up on that now

My suggestion was no more blanket than 'eat whenever you want'. If someone wakes up in the middle of the night and binges then they probably don't have the discipline to halt intake at a given time. Though it is pretty remarkable for someone to test at 6%/187 who has that great a tendency to binge.

    ^^^ Just stop, really.

As for the original poster, even if you did go "hardcore" for a while you're not just going to pack on a ton of mass. But you seem to be on the way to fixing your diet, just start doing cardio of some sort for 30 minutes a day and gradually increase that.

Most home workout setups are useless too, you should really consider joining a gym.

I think why there is so much backlash is because you seem to just want this as an afterthought. All of us here have lives outside the gym. I go to school, others work. Some even do both. So it's not like we're all sitting in the gym 4 hours every day. We have just made space within our schedules and made changes in our diet. It's as simple as that. Stick to that and you'll probably get what you're looking for.
