I mean like ya feel like you haven't been getting much sleep, working way too damn much..etc.

Yeah working out does help to relieve most of that, but what happens when the motivation to work out that day just isn't there and you're having to force yourself? :sad2:

What are some of the mental things you do to kick yourself in the ass to just GOOOOOOOOOOOOOO?

Actually, I felt like you described yesterday. I didn't wanna go to the gym. But then i thought about taking some NoXplode (as it usually does the trick when Im not feeling fully energized), and the thought of that made me feel like more of a pussy. I just told myself "Quit being a fucking pussy, you dont need any placebo bullshit to pretend you get a good workout." So I just went. Calling myself a fucking coward the whole ride. And by the end of my workout, I had one of my better ones this month. I was PUMPED. Just calling myself a twat and reminding myself what I look like in the mirror does it for me.

I usually take a nap before I go to the gym if I'm too tired. Even an hour of sleep helps me feel refreshed.

sometimes I don't go. I like to listen to my body and its good to rest when you need to rest.

If I haven't gone in a few days or a weeks time and I still feel that way I usually put it out of my mind and just go. I concentrate hard on the workout and before I know it I'm riding high on the pump and then I'm done.

I've been sick this week so no gym for me till Monday or Tuesday of next week.

Well physically yeah, you have to listen. But if its a motivation problem, then just suck it up.

    quoted for emphasis

sometimes you just can't go to the gym. a day off here and there (even a week) has never killed anyone. can be quite beneficial in some cases

I don't think that I've ever had a motivational problem to be totally honest. Sure there were times I dind't want to go but it wasn't because I wasn't motivated.

even when you're feeling great, and by great I mean like you can lift a truck, all pumped up from consistantly going to the gym...its great to take a few days off to let the body recoop on those workouts. A lot of people think that going when you're at your top will only be helpful, but they dont' realize that they are on the brink of overtraining.

Ever feel like king kong and go in the gym and feel like your workout wasn't all that you hoped it would be?

Usually if I feel like shit I'll force myself to work out. A couple minutes or even as quick as 30 seconds into it I'll feel like I'll want to work out for hours. You just get used to feeling bad and the best way to counter it is to actually do something different than sitting around feeling unmotivated. In reality it takes very little physical effort to do something like go out and walk around the block.

I've done this in the past and it's helped. Sometimes I don't want to get up. :o I'm going to try a 30min nap. :)

oh man, I was doing that the other day and I was like :sad2: don't want to go back to that.
I was playing some decent music on my way home from work just now so I wouldn't have bad road rage. :o

True, but this will be my 3rd training run for time this week (we usually are scheduled to do 3 and then the long run on Saturday) and I'm suppose to rest up tomorrow for the 9 miler on Saturday :noes:

yeah, if I'm sick I rest up with no worries.

    Thanks guys! :)

naps make workouts suck, and you'll prolly just wanna lay back down (past experiences). Just stick it out as a normal sleeping schedule for the rest of the day, and you'll feel better tomorrow

Not in my case, if I didn't get enough sleep I'll wake up in the morning, go to class, eat, and then take a nice 2-3 hour nap and hit the gym feeling great.

Although theres a 30 minute to an hour window after I wake up where I take all my supps and shit before getting ready for the gym.

yeah if I ever take a nap I can't get up and just go to the gym, well I've never tried a 2-3 hour nap, so that could be different

i have many motivators that help remind me...

    i'll watch some porn.

i'll think of a girl i didn't get that a bigger guy did.

i'll think of how much i want to whoop that bigger guys ass.

i'll watch workout vids on my comp.

i'll watch texas football that i have dvr'd

i'll watch the movie "the program" - most specifically that huge roided up dude and summer practice :o

i'll watch my rose bowl dvd

i'll think of a hottie i saw on campus

i'll stand in my apartment and scream "LYTEWEIGHT!!11"

i'll listen to some lil jon, chamillionaire, z-ro, dmx etc.

    i'll listen to some metal.

i'll half jerk it, then stop to make myself want it - and then say no, my hand only puts out for brolys.

    i'll read animalpak.com

i'll make up my own animal pak that starts with "while all those other fags are sitting at home drinking beer and watching sports... you know where i'll be... when that dimes guy is getting fatter, im bustin my ass"

i'll put on some XL clothing and get upset at myself for not filling it out

i'll put on my nike pro apparell my mom bought me (shes a sweetheart, but bought it too big) and think about how pussy i am because anyone who owns that should make it be tite

i'll think of the other gym nuts who are progressing while im not

i'll think about how bad i wanna juice and if i cant hit a workout now, how could i ever expect to be perfect for 12 weeks

i'll put it on discovery hd theatre and look at some animals that i want to bulk with

i'll think about how many people on this forum look the same forever and how i dont want to be that guy

i'll think about future encounters with girls where i can flex nuts and pop that pussy like thisssss

    enough?
