Since main forum was useless :o

Its been forever since I've been in the car audio stuff so Im out of the loop. I'm looking to buy my roommate a headunit for her Audi A4, I think its a 1996. Whats a good head unit that I should get? I would like for it to light up red to keep with the look of her car. Also if possible, do any of them have the same feature that the stock unit does of giving the name and stuff of the song thats playing?
    Help me out OT

Well if you want the stock feature that gives the track names etc, you'll need a cd player that has "cd text" capabilities.

What's her budget? If she's just using the stock speakers and such, I don't see much need for a headunit costing more than around 200 dollars or so though. Does she need it to play back mp3s?

Actually its my budget :o for her Christmas present. Dont want real cheap, but she doesnt need a ton of fancy stuff. So probablly 150-250?
Stock speakers, but eventually putting a 12" sub and amp. Mp3's would probably be nice, but no a necessity.

well in the $150 range (cheap, imo) then look at a Sony because they support MP3/CD-Text and light up red.

For the $250 range, check out the Alpine 9831, which has a display that changes colors and she can select red...

In case you haven't guessed, the Alpine is a much better unit than the sony ;)
