I heard fish oils are good for depression/energy. I suffer from depression and energy problems. What brand of fish oil should I buy tomorrow? How much do I take?

You might want to give Flax Seed oil a try, too. I like the "Spectrum" brand because it just plain tastes the best. Throw in some Noni juice for experimentation's sake.

My omega pills have approx 75mg of both, something like 150mg and 175mg of omega 6 and 9: doesn't the body break the latter down to omega 3? If not, I need better oils.

You should take something with both Omega-3 and O-6. Go to your local pharmacy and ask the pharmacist to recommend a brand. Nordic Naturals is a good one, but others are good too.

You might want to ramp up your dosage, some people take a few days to weeks to become accustomed to fish oil.

fish oil is a great supplement and everyone should take it, however, i seriously doubt it will have any impact on your depression or energy levels :sadwavey:

Like any supplement, it only helps if you were deficient to begin with.
For those that are, it's GREAT.

    .

Every person should remember this. Supplements do no good and even damage when over-taken. They're only useful if your body's deficient.

I heard that a big problem in a typical American diet is the ratio between Omega 6 and Omega 3 in the body. According to some articles, the recommended ratio is 1:1, but most diets are like 20:1 to 50:1. So, I might say just consider a supplement of only Omega-3.

Also, I heard a fish oil with a higher proportion of EPA rather than DHA is more beneficial in general for adults, although studies show that that both ingredients have shown equal benefits on depression.
