I've got a dell laptop whose hard drive is full. I was wondering if I should buy a separate hard drive and enclosure, or go with a comercially available product?

Having the option to do a complete backup (one touch not required) would be nice.

You can back up to any portable hard drive, prebuilt or custom. Custom will be cheaper, but prebuilt will come with special one-touch backup software. Pick your poison.

fatwallet.com and slickdeals.net lists deals on external hdd's/enclosures and pata/sata drives often.

    keep an eye out.

http://ecost.com/detail.aspx?edp=37614911that should do pretty good. I have heard good things about them. I would recomend formating the drive when you get it to avoid the crappy backup software the comes with all external hard drives.

i got a 320gb imation drive from tigerdirect.com for $70 after rebates. however, i saw that i had just missed a deal to get it for somewhat cheaper, it was posted on slickdeals.net

it's nice, i'm happy to see that it has a seagate drive inside of it
