considering making the switch for general health/cholesterol reasons. This is just one part of a full on diet change, including less red meats, more fish/lean meats, more steamed veggies, and better meal placements.

I can't find much in the way of soy milks impact on muscle gain, general health or bodybuilding at all.

    any input? links? data?

    thanks!

wait til you get older and the doc gets on your ass about high cholesterol and heart disease running in your family...

You'll be looking for alternative solutions too.

Not that I'm gonna enjoy it or anything, but soy milk > heart attacks...

And milk doesn't cause heart attacks. Not even close.

And I drink the occasional glass of soy milk.

Soy milk is pretty gross by itself, unless you get chocolate. It is good in cereal though. Rice milk is also good.

Why would soy milk necessarily be better than skim milk?

Never said it was. I was *asking* if there were any benefits to switching.

I don't know much about Soy Milk at all.

Dairy milk won't raise your risk of a heart attack. Drink skim.

I like soy milk, but I just drink skim. If I'm on a cereal kick though, I buy soy only because my body doesn't handle a lot of dairy well.

    • If you're one of the millions who likes to eat breakfast from a cardboard box, Charles has some interesting info for you. A rat study on breakfast cereal revealed that rats fed organic cereal actually had shorter life spans than those fed just regular cereal.

Amusingly, after the study was complete, the researcher decided to see which group would live longer: rats eating cereal or rats left only empty cardboard cereal boxes to eat. The winner? You guessed it. You're better off eating Lucky the leprechaun.
