Just curious, as it is something I have always pondered.

I have a 4 year degree in computer science and a law degree. I currently practice patent law, but am bored out of my mind and want a total new career. If I entered the navy. What would I enter as with having these degrees? An officer? I have no desire to practice law in the military.

At what point could I apply for the seal training program? What is required to be approved for the training program? Is having degrees worthless in this position? What salary assuming I were able to pass the program and become a seal? Thanks for the help folks.

I of course already know that the program is damn hard with a high failure/drop out rate, so don't need to discuss this. I am very confident that I have the mental ability to pass this program. But that is another issue.

Also once you become a seal are their differing levels? Please excuse the ignorance. Thanks again.

my friend joined the navy out of high school. got into an MOS doing computer repairs. went to school for that for a couple months. came out of school and a couple month later tried out for BUDS and made it through. in 1.5 years since he joined the navy out of high school he got into a navy seals team based out of coronado and is now in iraq. i have not seen him again in the past 2 years.

if you have the stubborn mentality and the physical ability you can make it.

This pretty much sums it up. I've met a few guys that have gone through SEAL training (and dropped obviously) and some of the stories are like :noes:

Good luck, and go for it. No one fucks with you when you wear a trident

There was a discovery show on Class 234, wow, those guys are just beat down non-stop. At first you watch it thinking, I can do that, but after 8 hours you start to wonder how the guys are still standing.

Don't be an idiot. Socom units are being tasked to perform more "basic" missions due to lack of qualified manpower through out all of the services, and to justify their budget. The days of SOCOM units being able to sit back and wait for the kickass missions have passed. They have to be more willing to accept more "infantry" style missions during excessive down time to justify their purpose, budget, and manpower requirements/request.

Actually, that would probably help. It would be a very real source of strength/resolve/whatever to know, deep down, that you are the baddest motherfucker in the valley of death.
