Instead of my name. This is someone I have intrest in and see just about every weekend. We usually go out with my roomate and his girl, which is her friend. I text her ocassionally throughout the week with small talk. Although I always text her name in the message. Or am I just looking too deep into it?

    wow :eek4: that's pretty deep. :o

um... :dunno: i'm pretty sure by the "hey you" text message, we know just as much as you do about the situation. oh, and in case your curious as to what that is... nothing - we know nothing. ;)

ask her out? :dunno: i mean... she's texting you when you're not with your roommate and her friend, right? it could be a good sign. :dunno:

so... what exactly do you have to lose? ;)

The fact she doesn't use your name means absolutely nothing.

The fact that she's texting you means 1 of 2 things that you have to figure out for yourself because you haven't posted many details for us:

    1. She's interested in you and wants you to ask her out
    2. You are friendzoned and she likes talking to you or likes your attention

Without details, I can't say which sounds more plausible, but going on the utter lack of details it sounds like she likes you and you should ask her out.

I just think I have the cards stacked against me. I have the same name as her ex that left her out of nowhere (sort of). And they had already done the meeting family thing so she was pretty down about that.
When i hear stuff like that i automatically make excuses why I would she would not like me. Yeah im a moron.

 well... you gotta stop that.

 unless your name is really unique, it doesn't mean crap.

You ought to try seeing a psychologist or something for a little while (if even for a session or too). Perhaps that will help you sort out why you feel so negatively about yourself.

Whenever I've gotten a "hey you" text it has lead to some kind of sexual encounter.

    It's a greeting.

Ask her out already, stop this texting back and forth bullshit with no end result.

I've taken to posting bullshit replies that amuse me in threads like this one, where the FP is a question with a blindingly obvious answer.

    Is that wrong?

:mamoru: As long as it's actually funny and not horribly rude or offensive to the TS (or some main forum troll shit) then most of the time I allow it :hs:

wtf? Do you need someone to wipe your arse cause you can't decide to go front to back or back to front?

Just ask her out. She says no, who cares. She says yes then go for it. It ain't rocket science.

And, for the record, I had a spell of 3 semi-serious gfs, all with the same name. It just made life a fuckload easier. Never had to worry about saying the wrong name.

As does everything else a girl does or says who you're attracted to. Looks your way? "Ask me out." Smiles? "Ask me out." Looks up, down, sideways? "Ask me out." Winks? "Ask me out." Says "excuse me" or "oops, sorry" or -- this one's totally choice -- "thank you"? "Ask me out." Coughs? "Ask me out." Picks her nose? "Ask me out."

Note: once you ask her out once and you get shut down, this rule instantly ceases to apply, even if she keeps doing the exact same things. I don't know how or why, but it does. Mystery of the universe. Best not to ask questions.

    Except to girls.

    About going out.

What's funny to me though... is that I don't ever recall a girl saying "hey you" to me before I've asked her out and made a positive impression on her. "Hey you" seems to be something that's said after it's been established that both of you are interested in a romantic relationship with one another.

do guys really read this much into everything? no wonder they always think some girl is into them or something based on a smile or sweater tug.

It's your fault. You chicks do subtle shit all the time and expect us to realize what it means. Then when we start trying to pick up on that stuff so you don't get all pissed off at us for being insensetive, then we're "overanalyzing everything" :greddy:

It is a familiar kind of phrase, yes.

But in text, nothing necessarily means anything. There's too much missing subtext (hence the lack of "sub" in "text"). That's why we need italics and bold and have to SHOUT SOMEtimes and use smileys :)
