I have an opportunity to get a Canon EF 75-300mm f/4-5.6 IS USM for $100 bux! Should i be scared? I just want a nice zoom lens for cheap for now since im on a tight budget.

I currently have a 28-135mm that came with my 40d
    and i got a 17-40L

So i figured this was a great deal but i wanted to run it past you guys before getting it.

  2. Decent zoom lens especially for that price, however watch out there has been reports that the quality at 300mm is pretty bad, I read about the lens on Fredmiranda.com

it's a pretty crappy lens, but if the long zoom is more imporant than image quality and quickness, than i guess for $100 bucks why not.

I had one many years ago (non IS version that i bought brand new) and after getting more in to photography a couple years later i wondered why the fuck i ever bought the damn thing.

But like i said, if its only $100 and you're really in need of a long lens, eh sure i guess.

You get what you pay for. You could get it now, since you're not spending that much, and save up for a 70-200L. :dunno:

My 75-300mm f/4 5.6 IS was $600. The non IS model was far cheaper.
