What does "empty cache" mean?

    i think its simliar to deleting "temporary internet files" in internet explorer

    yeah, it's the same thing...
    it's called cache in windows too...
    cache is a basic computer word regardless of what OS/System you're using.

    just temp files to speed up stuff you frequently use/do/see, it could be for anything not just internet files
