the visual studio team suite has a visual designer that is for you planing, requirments, data model, code and object/ class model drafting. It alows you to brainstorm in a dash board environment and add your pages or objects or class diagrams and create visual connections and diferent dependancies and relations. It also has to some degree integration to what you have done with your data layer model to where you can actualy visualy create your tables and conections and it actualy does the data base set up for you if you want to do so. There is a beta version of vis studio 2008 that is free that should have that functionality already included but i am not 100% sure.

Another thing i use is Visio which comes with MS Office it has everything you need to do the above except the ability to turn your diagrams into actual project.

    get to the photochoppa!!!

I do all my design in photoshop, then when I have something I like, I break it apart and start building the CSS and html for the layout.

//edit: thought you were referring to the visual design.

I do all my db relations and stuff on paper :dunno:

i did too when i was dealing with simple web pages and ecommerce stuff but when it comes to whole huge applications that involve 5-6 projects or other applications you cant really do it in your head. At y current situation i also have to present visual diagrams and concepts to clients or people who make descisions in my company, then give them mock ups (done in PS), and when all this is approved present working prototypes or a project will never get approval

I get what you are saying. I am sure I will have to start drawing things up sooner or later.
