As we know, MMA is becoming more recognizable (and I say that in a loose fashion because those who know about MMA know it's been around (at least) since the times of the Ancient Greek) as a legitimate sport rather than :hsugh: "human cock fighting" :hsugh:; state restrictions / bans are being dropped slowly but surely, etc.

So, my question is, do you think they'll loosen up on the rules (like before it was redesigned) once the UFC is regulated in all 50 states or do you think they'll proceed with the way things have been restructured to keep people from whining about how dangerous and controversial the sport is?

$ rules the world. The UFC ect.. are getting prime time tv big PPVs huge crowds so there is plenty of money flowing about, alot of which is into fairly influential media pockets. Then the vocal minority will soon have no voice and the sanctioning bodies will have no real reason not to allow events.

Yeah, but do you think they'll go back to how it once was before they went in and reconstructed things? For instance, do you think techniques like the "12 - 6" elbow be allowed back in? Fighting without gloves being mandatory?, etc.?

Unfortunately, I don't think we'll ever get to see soccer kicks. 12-6 Elbows or no gloves.

I like the gloves though.. for protection from inury.

getting rid of the gloves is a horrible idea, imo. Fighters will get hurt more and the public will look at it as barbaric.

    I can understand that.:hs:

But to alot of the narrow-minded public, MMA is already considered "barbaric" gloves or no gloves.:sad2:
...But I do respect and understand the safety aspect of wearing gloves... I'm sure if I were an MMA fighter, I'd choose to wear gloves.

Soccer kicks are great, but I would love to see knees on the ground that would make a great difference for even more exciting fights.

The rules currently in place are one of the reasons the sport was able to grow the way it did.

They aren't going to change anytime soon.

12-6 elbows will soon be allowed. Doubtful we'll see the changing of any other rules though.

I wouldn't like to see it go ENTIRELY back to the way it used to be, but I'd sure love to see some of the rules relaxed or eliminated.

I'd like to see the punches to the back of the head rule changed a little, but not completely eliminated. The big thing is a "good faith" rule added to it. I shouldn't be able to turn my head as you're punching me to draw a foul. If you're making a "good faith" effort to make legal strikes, you should be fine. The downward elbow rule needs to go away, the sooner the better. And knees and kicks to the head of a grounded fighter should be allowed.

Headbutts, groin strikes, bare knuckles, etc, no. I agree with that being gone. And maybe ban foot stomps. Going back to the tournament format would be a disaster, because even then people were dropping out of the tourneys left and right, and fresh "alternates" were coming in towards the end.

    No, I don't think so.:hs::o
    ...at least I don't think I am.:mamoru:

No, no eye gouging, nut shots or blows to the back of the head. But yes, knees to the head, no gloves (even though I'm all for wearing gloves), the 12 - 6 elbow, etc, etc.

...I'm the Queen of fail threads, btw.:mamoru:

:x:Where did you hear about this?

Really? Why do you say that?

    :h5:

lol, I actually would like to see the foot stomps stay in.:o

:dunno: I can't say for certain but sports do tend to add more rules onto the game as time goes on.
