when I used to post more often, the prevailing school of thought was one muscle group per week. Then people started doing Westside and did the major groups 3 times a week.

Hitting muscle groups more often a week puts on more size quicker? Holy shit, give these people a fucking Nobel Prize.

Weird, my buddy who is now training with me just sent that link to me.

I think its a great article, as its mainstream source and those who are less educated and dont know any different will find MSN accountable.

I have been preaching to my bud that doing a full body workout (variants of olympic lifts, bench and squat) is more beneficial to him for health and sports than a body builder type routine where you concentrate on seperate muscle groups....

He also had this notion that more reps and lighter weight will be benficial to him cause he doesnt wanna look like me ("Muscley"), he just wants to lose weight. I laughed at him, and said if all it took was lifting weights a specific way to look "muscley" everyone would have great results... I assured him that with his current diet and sleep habits he will have no trouble not looking muscley, but he should continue at the gym as he will become more fit and make changes in his body, nonetheless.

The article kinda supported what I was saying to him.

I had a post about that exact blurb a few weeks ago. I will find the link. I tried to explain it then, and got the same responses.

with that said, i switched my routine to a full body workout 3x a week 2x a week cardio...and i'm seeing some pretty good results.

It's not a new study, i've mentioned it numerous times. It's part of Bryan Haycock's basis for HST which he developed several years ago.

Westside type stuff is 2 upper days, 2 lower days. Besides, none of us are actually doing westside since none of us are at westside
