  4. I've always heard iffy things about small 1911s with regards to their reliability. Also, my first choice for carry use wouldn't be a 1911 for reasons of general reliability.

The 1911 is a beautiful gun with loads of history. But, for me, the reliability isn't there for a carry gun.

    Kimber - fail
    Tiny 1911 - fail

I don't know if they ironed the issues out or not yet, but I've known a few people that fell for the tiny 1911's. They had tons of trouble with feeding in them. This was two different tiny Springfields and a kimber.

Plus they are still heavy as hell. I'd rather something lighter.

They look great but I don't know if I could trust a super compact 1911 with my life. I take my 5" 1911 with me any time I can fit it under my shirt, though.

I will say that at one point I did have a Para Companion for CCW use. Pretty similar in size to that kimber, it was slightly longer. While it functioned fine, I did not enjoy lugging that thing around all day. I went from a glock 26 to the para and then back to a glock 19 cause I just felt the Para was too heavy of a gun for carry use.

  13. By my count so far it's 9-0 against that gun. Just get a Glock or a J-frame.

Just the way it should be

  15. Exactly. There's a difference between a combat style gun and something to shoot at the range. Some companies don't get that.

I've never read a glowing review or met a person who had a scaled down 1911 run well at least without a fair amount of work.

If you want a small 1911 I've heard some good things about the Springfield EMP in 9mm.

I have a Ultra Carry II that I've owned for about 4 years now with great results. It feed all sorts of stuff and doesn't jam on me even when I don't clean it between range trips (on purpose to see if I could let it reproduce the trouble I've heard of) I'm really pleased with the gun and can't say anything bad about it really. Shoots very straight and carries great because it's so thin.

ab13 bought the tiny springer 1911 for shits and gigs and I don't think he's had any issues with it. of course it probably sits in the back of his safe
