Sounds pretty decent but if i were you i'd go with and ATI card. At the moment that are a bit better.

I believe a 9600 Radeon would be a better choice. Also you're going to college with only 40GB? Grab another HDD for storage.

I've got a 250gb external already. That western digital is supposed to fly, if i get another at somepoint i can RAID them.

I would switch to an AIW ATI Card, either 9600 Pro or 9800 Pro then you can lose that extra TV Tuner card

  6. i'd say that the raptor seems good now, but you'll hate youself for it. it's only good if you plan to raid two new drives, i've heard all kinds of gloom and doom about 1 old and 1 newer HD going together. I'd suggest going to a 120 gb hd, it should cosrt about the same, and it's three times larger, and while there is a difference in preformance, it's not huge. In my experience, external Hd's suck, maybe your is god, but i won't even look at them.

also, for what you're getting, an AMD athalon would be a much better deal over a p4. Hyper-threading isn'tr all it's cracked up to be. Personally, i'm saving $125 by buying an AMD over a P4, and their preformance is dead even.

    just some suggestions

id say spend the extra 80$ to get dual channel ram if that mobo can handle it. and you certainly need more than 256 if youre not going dual channel, even if you are, i recommend it. no way youre going to feel youre getting your use out of a 2.8ghz chip if youre lagging on ram

With that graphics card gaming is most certainly out of the question. And if you get the 64-bit version it would be quicker to re-draw the screen yourself. If you plan on gaming then go for a 9600Pro at minimum. However if it's just an office PC it'll be pretty darn good because the overal system power if pretty good.
