I'm wanting something to go right below my 70-200mm f/2.8L IS and this looks like a good one.

    anyone have experience with it?

I have tried only a single copy, and it is a bit soft up until about f5.6 or so. Apparently this lens is a bit hit or miss so other copies might be sharper than the one I have used.

anyone have a recommendation of a lens around this price/focal length/aperture for a 350D. I really want the 24-70 f/2.8L but after spending the money on the other L, i'm strapped

we have used those sigma's since 2003 and only one has had problems (out of the 10 we own). The photos come out real nice but the lens is kinda bulky.
