    Compared to the Nikon

Does the Sigma have Internal Focus?

Yes, it has internal focus. The end does not extend or rotate during zoom or focusing.

I have this lens with a Canon mount. Absolutely love it. Very sharp and very fast focus. So far I've been extremely impressed, especially for $760 (from Amazon) compared to $1200 for the Canon version.

for an extra hundred... I'd go for the Nikkor.

I love the one sigma I have (10-20mm), but i think it's hard to beat the nikkor lenses

I tested a Tamron 70-200 f/2.8 before I bought my Sigma. The focus was very slow (compared to the Canon 70-200 f/2.8L I was also trying out). If I hadn't just been using the Canon, I may not have noticed, but as it was the focus was much slower and noisier. The Sigma with HSM focuses as fast as the Canon, even in low light.

I love my 70-200 VR. A friend has that sigma and he likes it... For the piece, you can't beat it. Sigma makes good lenses. I have a 18-200, 10-20, and 24-70 that are all sigmas. They might not be as good as the nikkor ones, but for the price I paid, I'll use the sigmas until I can afford the equivelant Nikkors. For now, they're doing the job.

Also, if you think a more expensive lens is going to make you better... Well, then you're doing it wrong!!!

I think I will see if I can rent them and try them first.
