The .17 HMR? I'm looking for a good rifle to hunt some squirel with. I'm leaning more toward just getting some new internals and possibly a stock and barrel for my 10/22, but was wondering if the .17hmr was better.

While I'm not familiar with terminal ballistics of bullets and squirrels, I'd think a .22lr should be sufficient to do them in and still allow you to practice cheaply enough to be able to do them in with 1 shot ;)

Your stock 10/22 will do fine.

Minus well buy a new rifle.

judging from these guys, I'd say the 22, unless you are just looking for a reason to buy a new gun

you still gonna be at the range at 8?

Yep, might get there a little earlier than that. You know it's a good week when you go to the range twice in three days. I just hope it's around 60º again.

Nah, just get it then tell her a week later. Although, I think she'd rather I get a new one so she can keep the 10/22 all to herself.

    Don't mind at all.

i just picked up a 17hmr. nice shooter. scoped her in last week and my pops took her out this three times already. dead accurate too. supposedly at 50 yards, theres more bullet velocity than a 22mag at the barrel. just what ive read and been told. no way to really gauge that

my pick is get a new hummer. you wont regret it

I dont think the word "hunt" and "Squirrel" can be used in the same sentance.. It just sounds wrong!

ok, do both, theyre both relatively inexpensive and the ruger is pretty cheap to mod

As of now I'm thinking both, just depends on which one I do first. I'll have to shop around and see if I can find a .17 that I like.

Are there kits to do this? I knew there were for .17HM2, didn't know they could for hmr.

From what I read, it isn't sufficient for a clean kill. Still an awesome round and fun as hell to shoot.
