Costco online has it for $549 delivered starting April 1. I plan on buying a safe in the next few days. I know it won't provide the amount of protection as a more baller safe. But I figure this plus bolting it to the floor and wall should deter most opportunist criminals, and it's much better than nothing.

So, are there any safes that are much better for under say $1000?

My safe is more or less a sheet metal locker that locks at the bottom and top too. I'm poor :hs:

i mean granted, anything is usually better than nothing, you want to mitigate the smash and grab.

more "advanced" thieves will get through that like butter and a hot knife :hs:

i am grabbing a dakota "take apart" safe for my closet, there is no way anyone could tip it over inside there or "squeeze" it out, it simply is too big to fit through the doorway in once piece.

once i get a house, i will be going graffunder :o

The orig posted costco safe looks about the same as a StackOn I got for $360 with exception of the fire protection. (not the std StackOn cabinet, it's actually got bolts, etc)

Bed safe is the SHIT though!

That costco one isn't like those shitty Stack on ones I see at Sportsmans, where if you knock on it it sounds all hollow like a school locker is it? Those ones weigh like 50 lbs

The Stack-On "safes" are lockers and nothing more. 100% better than nothing, but damn-near every other safe is better than the Stack-On lockers.

Mine is a hallway closet with an electric keypad deadbolt. I dont have enough room for safes to hold my stuff.

Like I said, mine isn't a stackon locker, it's a safe. It is not double walled or anything crazy but it's not a door you can pull open with a pry bar either. Anyway, it was $360 and I don't think I could touch anything better for less than twice that so it suits me for now. I'm running out of space but that's another story....
