Why did you get a D60?

It's my first DSLR. I got it for $100 less than the MSRP. It's something small I can learn off of come these months of good weather (hopefully).

Plus, I want to see what Nikon releases as the successor to the D80.

Fair I guess. Just be wary of the lenses. But you know about that.

Not sure about the lens you have there. I think its more pricy cause of the VR.

My first lens was a 18-70 f/3.5-4.5. I think it's a great starter lens for its versatility and its half the price of that one you have there with a smaller maximum aperture range.

I can't see VR being a worthwile addition to your first lens imo.

Good GOD... for that much money, you can get the 18-200 VR and have a bigger range. I wouldn't pay that much for a lens unless it had a fixed aperture of 2.8... matter of fact, I paid $500 for my 24-70 Sigma f/2.8 lens. :)

Who needs VR when you can open up that bitch really wide through out the zoom?

If you want image quality, go with the 16-85

If you want convenience, go with the 18-200

Just considering these two, I'm not saying they're the only 2 to look at.

$700 puts you in the price range for a loooooooooot of lenses. It's a really competitive area.

This would not make my list for consideration.

Even though it prolly is a decent and capable lens...

Holy WTF. I thought it was a decent lens until I saw the price tag of $700!?
    Tamron 17-50 F2.8 FTW for a bargain at $450!
