What do you guys take post-workout?

    i read the nutrition edu here and it seems there's a lot of options.

    what do you guys take post-workout? please give specific measurements if you can (cup, scoops, etc.).

    thanks a lot.

    Are you taking about supplement wise?

    All i take is a protein shake, i upped it a bit because i'm trying to bulk a little.

    1 cup Milk (whole or vitamin d or w/e)
    1 Banana
    2 Scoops of Whey

    Blend it for 10 secs, add 2-3 icecubes, blend for another 20-30 secs, pretty damn good. I used to take cee as well but don't anymore.

    Shake and eat about 30 minutes after that.

    Post-Workout Shake, which consists of: Whey, Maltodextrin, Dextrose, and a pinch of salt. I mix it with water because milk supposedly slows down the absorption rate. About 30-60 minutes later, I pig out on whatever I feel like.

    i've heard a lot of different things about milk. the nutrition edu up there recommends it, saying it causes a "bigger insulin spike than it should." others don't recommend it at all.

    any opinions?

    I notice that when I drink milk or a shake made with milk, I seem to recover from my workout faster energywise. Usually I bust ass and I feel totally depleted after a workout... not sure how to describe it... kind of a mix between what I'd assume is carb depletion and also this light-headed, empty-stomach feeling that will last for a couple hours. a few cups of nonfat milk solves that pretty soon after drinking it for me.

    Yea and i also think a banana is supposed to recover some sort of energy as well right? electrolytes i think?

    also do you guys really think absorbtion rate really makes a difference? I think if you're eating right and getting a lot of protein in your daily diet from meat and dairy pre-workout, your body should be constantly processing protein, which means right after your workout, before you even eat, your muscles begin to repair and recover using the protein already in your system.

    I remember a video posted here recently where a dude was talking about how Ronnie Coleman just eats steak and cornbread right after lifting, doesn't do the whole PWO shake thing. I think if a dude that huge isn't using PWO shakes at all, it's safe to say you'll be fine if your protein absorbs a little slower because of milk (if that's even true in the first place).

    ah i see. well either way it's been recommended to eat a banana right after a workout, i've read it several times somewhere...i just mix it in my shake :bowdown:

    A banana if I have them. Great for insulin recovery. If not then I have a can/pouch of tuna or small canned chicken and 2 scoops of protien in water.

    Exactly what i do:bigthumb:

    I do this fried rice thing with tuna, rice, spinach. I dont use oil but that spray stuff. I also add 1 egg.

    2 scoops whey and skim or 2% milk. Sometimes a few teaspoons of peanut butter if it's chocolate flavored protein, none if it's vanilla. I eat my dinner about 30 - 45 mins after that.
