i'm not entirely sure if that's what the problem is but during my last leg workout a muscle and/or tendon between my hips and quads started to bother me. Upon my last set it felt "strained" and now its been bothering me since. I can feel it slightly when i stand up from a chair or get out of my car.

It feels exactly in that spot. Anyway to treat it, stretch it? What do you recommend?

is not, it's just strained. I can walk normally without pain. How does one stretch this out before squats? i've never had this issue and I've played hockey for 18 years.

I get a pain in my hips when I doing a lot of squatting(2-3 x's a wee). The trainer at my school said it is inflammation of the tendons. I have the same type of pain you described and doing the same motions. But it can be a whole different thing for you.

Could be, but how does one stretch that out?

I would sit on my but with my nonhurt leg extended out infront. The leg that was sore I would curl to the side then lean back and to the side of the nonhurt leg. You should look like your jumping a hurdle while sitting on the ground.

Thats the best I can describe it.

I dont know the exact name of the warm up but I want to say it's a "Stand to Squat". Take a wide stance and bend your torso over so your legs remain straight, grab your toes. You should feel a bit of a stretch in your hamstrings at this point. Continue to hold your toes and start into the squat position. Your knees will likely start behind or inside your arms but as you go lower in the squat position your knees should come out. When you reach the bottom of the squat position hold for a second or two and return to the starting position.

I do a set of 10 of these for warmups. I cant find any pics here at work but if you really want I can scan you some warm ups to do (from maximum strength).

might have been your hip joints not the hip flexors.

That shit hurts SO MUCH. Way worse than the IT band on the foam roller. I love it.

Another stretch for hip flexors is to stand with your feet apart like you are on railroad tracks, swing one leg straight back without moving your other leg and push your hips forward.
