Where should I put my feet to generate some power in my bench but not having a crazy powerlifter bend? I definitely use my legs when I bench but today I like pulled my hamstring somehow which means I'm doing something wrong :o

just put them on the floor if you don't want to have an arch and/or use leg drive.

I do want to use legs and bench more. ultimate goal = bigger bench... but I can't really find that proper spot. when I do my heavy 1-3 rep maxes I don't have problems but when I'm repping ~5 I always get screwed up :hsd:

i like to bring my feet up closer to my torso, and clsoe to the inside of the bench. then i basically push my toes into the floor and try to keep the arch. i dont really do a good job of it though..

Just toes eh? hmmm I think I might just use toes now that I think about it...

all I know is that when I get it all right the bar flies up way easier so I wanna perfect it :dunno:

sometimes i bring the feet closer to my stomach. like, usually they're just near the end of the bench, but sometimes i bring em to my stomach, or more like my thighs and bring them closer to the sides of the bench and kind of use the tip of the soles to help with some drive...not sure if it works but it seems to

well the balls of my feet really. I probably dont get much out of my arch. it's like 1 inch if that. and i lose it if it's more than 1 rep...

:werd: to the 1 rep thing

I don't actually arch that high off the bench... I'm not trying to shorten my ROM at all. I just find that the leg drive really lets me push up right and get into the right groove.

well, having an arch and using leg drive both are used for the same purpose, to be able to push more weight. why do one and not the other?

    one is top secret :mamoru:

I think the huge back arch thing looks kinda weird and like directly defeats the purpose of the lift (by making it shorter edit: since i'm not competing) whereas using legs is just using your muscles to lift it still :wavey:

most people can't get huge arches anyways, and you still use your muscles to lift it with an arch. but yea i see what you mean

When I set up on the bench, I pull my legs as far back as I can, dig my toes into the floor, and use a strong leg drive. Seems to be working for me. I hit a cg bench pr recently even with my elbow injury.

Try to get your heels down. Even if they don't touch, try to make them touch. If it's very easy to make them touch, pull them further back towards your head. Finally, when you're tight, in your mind think about picking up your big toe.
