I'm trying to figure out how others are improving their skills in whatever sports/martial arts they do OUTSIDE of the gym.

For example I've been doing BJJ (like most Cage Crew I think). I go to class 4 days a week and outside of class, I wish I could train more. Things I try to do outside of class to help me improve in BJJ is:

    Watch/Study Instructionals/Matches
    Work on Cardio and Strength
    Stretch
Skim the BJJ books I got

Anything anyone does besides that? I know people say the best way to improve grappling is to grapple, but the max I can do is 4 days a week of training :greddy:

I do the watching/studying thing but I struggle to consistently work on my cardio/strength.

I'm not very consistent with the cardio/strength, but whenever I do the cardio, I see a noticeable difference with my training. I mean I gas every time I go to class, but it helps with my breathing. The strength part though, I fail at that. I'm 6"0', 160lb. I know a guy who's the exact weight/height as me, but yet he's so damn bigger than me. I'm thinking I can prob drop down the weight by doing more strength training + cardio

I usually only gas against bigger guys but I'd like to see how I'd do if I actually worked on my cardio/strength.

If you have the patience, visualization is huge. Walk yourself through techniques that you are struggling with and other situations.

I have good cardio, my muscle endurance is weak, and I'm 6'0 and 155-160

I hate lifting and cardio, but ill do them occasionally. Mainly watch techniques and not just say ok, you grab there or pull here, but actually visualize what it would feel like to perform the technique against someone in class. Seems to help me put a technique into my memory faster.
