A&P What do you get with the expensive circular polarizers that you don't w/ the cheaper?

    cheap polarizers can cause some weird effects, most notably purple fringing.

    I've noticed that when I used my ProMaster CPL I would get a really gray looking image out of it, I would have to adjustments to the image to get the gray out.....with my Tiffen filter, no gray at all and the colors pop so much better :dunno:

    You get better light transmission on-axis, and less light transmission that is off-axis :hs:

    Maybe a better AR coating too?

    I love my Hoya CP, got it for my 18-70 last summer. I got a Tiffen polarizer for my 70-300 and I rarely use it...it's really shitty. Hoya FTW.
