personally I have never really done much matial arts just bunches and bunches of defensive tactics/striking and yes I used it weekely when I worked in a prison.

but since then corporate managment and social work dont lend themselves to useing those skills much.

Desired career is going to be in law enforcement (patrol ----> detective ----> captain, unless I should decide that I like one better than the other, or want to go higher.. will have to wait and see). Yes, muay thai might come in handy, but I'm sure the BJJ they'll teach me will be even more useful. If I'm gonna hit somebody I might as well use my mag lite or baton :mamoru:

I'm a pitching instructor. Milfs drop off their kids at my house all day. Sometimes the moms and I get a little flirty which gets the husbands jealous and they charge in for the shoot but I either knee them in the head or get them in a gillotine and choke them out.

Sushi Chef. No I don't use my MA skills at all but I do have to credit my grappling skills for not falling once because the floor is really slippery due to the oil/water and me not having slip resistant shoes. :bigthumb:

I used to work at Wal-Mart and although I wasn't in loss prevention where I would've been able to actually grab someone and use my training in that way, I was able to use it in another way. My extra awareness helped me dodge some close encounters with like crap falling and other work hazards. Also, it helped me gain confidence so I would stand tall and talk to a customer on an equal level rather than some pussy afraid to get fired cause the customer didn't like him. I never got fired and no customer ever yelled at me for anything, even when I pointed out their own stupidity at, say, finding an item when it's right in front of their face (I'd just look at it until they looked or look and then give them this dumb look). So, more secondary stuff that came from martial arts, but it came from there none the less.

i work in group homes for teenagers that dont have parents, or their parents basically gave up on them. the state teaches you "therapeutic holds" to restrain them when they act up, but that shit doesnt work on kids that are 250 lbs and 6'2", so i use what little bjj ive learned to restrain them. omaplatas and using their other hand to make them hit themselves, while yelling "why you hitting yourself" ftw.
