usually a two-hour nap does it for me but i did that today and still lifted very submaximal weights. :wtc:

i've heard some good things about caffeine pills? :dunno:

Just get mentally tough about it. For some people the right music, others have a routine, others take pills (i question the pills' effect)... but the most important factor to me is just wrapping your mind around it, and getting mentally tough regarding your workout.

If you're eating enough, sleeping enough, and truely mentally tough... thats all you "need"

    IDK, good luck.

if I nap before I have a hard time going in. usually have to weight at least an hour or two to get my head in the game. if I feel ultra shitty, I will take some caffeine or AMP. I try to limit this as much as possible though because I get tolerant to stims extremely fast.

For me, the whole routine of getting ready for the gym gets me hyped.

Start with a caffeine/betaine/tyrosine supplement about 30 minutes out. Protein shake shortly after. Get dressed and grab my hoodie or whatever I'm gonna wear while I warm up. Listen to my "Lifting" playlist on the drive to the gym.

If I still don't feel it by the time I hit the front door of the gym, I probably don't need to be there that day anyway.

no offense, but i just want to say that guys who skip workouts because they're not "feeling" it that day are pussies. even if i feel like shit, i still try my best to complete the workout i've set for myself. you get stronger and tougher doing something than doing nothing at all.

Really I just go there and start lifting weights. Straining to lift the weight is what gets my blood flowing. As long as I eat a good breakfast I feel grate. :dunno:

Get a good sleep and eat enough.

I skip workouts when I don't feel well, I don't think I would get anything out of lifting if I'm not gonna be at my best or near it.

I have the right music in my ipod and I usually grab a small coffee before my workout (except leg days).
This will usually do the trick.

If I am not feeling upto working out though, I just don't go. I have been lifting long enough now to realize that I am MUCH better off taking a day off when I am not feeling right and just hitting it hard the next day rather than go in and halfass it.

I've gone to the gym feeling tired, feeling sick, feeling sore, etc... and it always seems that I just end up leaving the gym earlier than I should, or just don't have the motivation and effort necessary.

Mind you, there is a difference between not feeling into it and just being lazy.

pretty much what all you said already, i dont take any caffeine/redline/energy booster drinks anymore - for some reason I began "coming down from them" literally crashing and feeling depressed after my workout was over, very jittery, etc....i dont know why, i used to pound redlines like they were nothing, now i just pop some music on, make sure i got enough sleep, have a shake, and go do my thing.
