    It depends on placement.. imo

I got some small line work on the side of my knee.. and for some reason a few spots was a lot more sensitive than I was USE to. I'd say it feels more like a cat scratching you over and over.

I think he cares.. Prolly why he asked - I think if I was debating on doing something painful I might ask as well.. Seems like a legit question :squint:

I have one on my calf, I wouldn't call it painful, it's a different feeling. It was kind of euphoric for me, 2 and a half hours and I was listening to Pink Floyd. I would several more if it wasn't for the old lady having cow over it...

I just had my full back outlined today (neck to below my ass, 5hrs, first tattoo of my life) and every spot felt different. My upper back didn't hurt at all, kind of felt good actually. Easiest comparison is when you go to get a haircut and the barber uses the little sideburn clippers on the back of your neck.

Both of the areas around my kidneys hurt alot, as well as the "butt crease". Those were the only ones where I closed my eyes; but everything else was pretty straight forward.

I have a really high pain tolerance, so take what I say with a grain of salt.

I actually liked the feeling of my first one, on my upper right arm.

Im kind of nervous for my second, Im going to get it inbetween my shoulder blades across my spine. I've been told that anything near the spine is painful as hell.

Naw, my spine didn't hurt at all. The lower back was what hurt the most.

Didn't you make some threads before wanting to be a tattoo artist and now you are asking how they feel?

I have a back piece that took 4 hours (upper back), and I agree, the spine didn't hurt at all compared to the rest. When he hit the spine it vibrated my entire back, felt kind of cool.

Certain spots that contain more nerve endings such as close to the arm pit, etc hurt more, other than that the linework and shading feel completely different.

Regarding the spine, it depends on how much "padding" you have back there! My back is bony and the vertebrae stick out...hurt like hell when the middle of the back over the spine was done. 37+ hours of ink on me and that is the worst area for me so far.

However, I can definitely see how it would be relatively painless if you have some fat back there.
