all natural so i'm no jay cutler, just trying to gain a better physique. where should i be focusing on to get everything looking/working stronger.

i go to a gym that has a ton of powerlifters and judging by how they work out they seem to be focusing heavily on deadlifts and squats. is that the way to go if you want alot more strength? i've been sticking to the leg/shoulder press machine because i'm not confident enough in my technique of both deadlifts and squats and don't want to cripple myself lol

I don't understand why people are so scared of squats and deadlifts, it's not like you'll start out doing 405 or some shit, you'll have more than enough time to get your form down as you go along

i'm starting to get a bit better on the squats but its hard to break the habit of staying on my toes and focus more on my heels, feels like i'm going to fall over.

i've started with just using the bar until i feel more comfortable with technique. i'm in the same boat with the knees thing. snowboarding has destroyed them but luckily no major issues or surgery yet. definitely sticking to light weight with more reps

you could also try a wider stance, pointing your toes out a bit more, working on better hip/ankle mobility. remember to keep your chest and stomach out, keep your back strong, and that it's okay to lean a bit forward at the bottom.

    :dunno: what else

    same here
my left shoulder is a bit fucked even after a lot of work on it so I squat/dead pretty light but I definitely get a lot out of them still. Go lighter and focus on form but don't stop till you hit failure

what are your favorite pectoral workouts? IMO thats a really weak part for me. bench doesn't seem to be working that well for me for big gains. anything that focuses on the pecs more?

More bench. You need to lose body fat too so that's why you don't "see" any growth. Incline bench ftw as well.

lats. pullups, chinups, DB rows. do these until your shoulders rip from their sockets

also squats. front, back, zercher. until your knees blow out and your quads tear apart

You should use steroid, because then you could look like Jay Cutler.

I was doing bench for a while with good enough form, but then watched this video, and applied some of the stuff to really tighten up my form, and found my weights just go right up.

    Give this vid a watch:

Also - focus on inclines, and do some dumbbell movements to even out any imbalances / build strength for a while. I always like going to DB's for a month or two to up my bench again.
