I have an mp3 head unit with an aux in in the back. So what all will I need to get satalite radio? an external XM or Sirius tuner/interface, the antenna, subscription, and what else? what sort of cost am I looking at?

    Probably like $45 total.

I got my XM Roady XT unit for $39.99, and then you need to spend $3-5 for a cable to use the aux-in. The XM unit will come with the antenna and mounts, etc.

So I'd say $45 initial investment, and then the $12.95 a month.

This is pretty accurate, if you aren't that handy then some places like Best Buy or Circuit City will install for about $70. They do good work and generally make it look pretty clean because some people have difficult running the antenna from the inside of the car to the outside and are also looking for a somewhat custom mounting location instead of the windshield.
